Police exist to enforce the will of the state. They are under no obligation to protect anyone at least according to the Supreme Court.

The focus here is all wrong. It’s the law makers and lawyers that have us all sinking in thousands of pages of archaic law. In any state look up “neck knife”. You will be sent to the first page that has at least 10 other linked pages. Hit on one link and that page sends you to another 10 pages without even covering the 9 pages from your first pages search. In five to ten minutes of reading you still don’t have your answer to the legality of a neck knife in that jurisdiction. Hint, you better wear it openly. To cover it is a felony in most states, even with just a 1″ blade. One couldn’t find this in the first page. Simple law should be understood in a one page description. We are all prisoners of a blur of words whatever the subject. None of us are living free.
Very true. There are way too many laws.
So who is at fault? The corrupt law-makers, or those that enforce the laws? I would reason both.
Corrupt laws hold no weight if the police, out of their own good conscience, choose not to enforce them.
